News Flash: Fashion Palette

After some surfing on the net, I stumbled upon this great event which will happen in Sydney on the 1-2 May 2009 named Fashion Palette.
Now there will be a majority of you out there thinking "Who or what is Fashion Palette?" other than the obvious fact it has something to do with fashion. Well instead of me raving on and attempting to describe exactly what Fashion Palette is all about heres a except from their website:

"A World Wide Industry First
In May 2009, the Australian fashion community will be the first to experience a new interactive fashion event, Fashion Palette.
Fashion Palette is aimed at providing an opportunity for the Australian fashion community to learn from some of the worlds most inspirational ‘fashionpreneurs’ in a two-day event. Fashion Palette will take place on 1st – 2nd May 2009 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sydney.

Describing her vision, Fashion Palette founder and director, Sonya Mefaddi says, “Fashion Palette is about providing a platform like no other for the Australian fashion community, an opportunity to learn and be inspired from within by some of the worlds most leading fashion figures. I am thrilled to be supporting the next generation of fashion designers in their quest to realise their dreams. When personal vision is matched with opportunity, extraordinary things can happen.”

From the outside, the world of fashion can appear glamorous, mysterious and impossible to break into. Watching leading Australian designers show their collections at fashion week can be an inspiring and exhilarating experience for the few lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket. Now the Australian fashion community will have the chance to soak up the skills and knowledge of some of the worlds most prominent fashion figures at this new and exciting event.

In addition to the two-days of presentations from leading fashion figures, Fashion Palette will host a design competition, catwalk show and after party, all designed to offer networking opportunities and to celebrate newly discovered talent.
As the last of fashion week models stomp down the runway on 1st May 2009, the inaugural Fashion Palette Event will open its doors to the public at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, running from 1st and 2nd May 2009.

The premiere Fashion Palette event will take place in Sydney, with future events running around Australia."

I think this is one of the best innovative ideas which have sprung from the fashion industry, in a attempt to help up and coming designers, journalists and well essentially help all aspects of the fashion industry. Sure there has been Project Runway, Next Top Model and Australia's Search for a Supermodel; but these shows only allow a small selection (of around 12 people) to enter and get selected in gaining a chance at achieving their goals as a designer and model respectively.

PS- As a dabbling artist myself, I love these artistic photographs which were taken specifically for Fashion Palette. Absolutely amazing, I would love to hang these on my wall! :)
